Neurotherapy, also called ‘EEG Biofeedback’ and ‘Neurofeedback’, is a type of technology based treatment that helps the patient learn how to modify his or her brainwave activity to improve attention, reduce impulsive actions, and control hyperactive behaviors, get rid of migraines, anxiety and a number of other conditions.
Neurofeedback uses sensors to painlessly determine the existing brain waves and create a map of what needs to change. Neurofeedback therapy can then create permanent changes to the connections in the brain reducing or removing unwanted behaviors by allowing the brain to rewire itself to work more optimally. Reducing and often completely eliminating the need for medications which are traditionally the only option available to treat these often debilitating conditions.
``If your child has ADHD, I HIGHLY suggest checking out Neurotherapy Institute! Leif's initial scans were extremely impulsive. In just two weeks of biofeedback/brain training, we noticed some major changes. After 12 weeks, he was a new kid! His level of focus was amazing, he had better emotional regulation and he stopped acting out to try to cover up his inability to do something. I'm now a very happy mother and it was so worth the money. Thank you, Neurotherapy Institute, for helping our son!``
Medication for conditions such as ADHD only provides symptom relief while the medication is being taken. Once medication stops those symptoms return. Neurofeedback therapy is an effective treatment for ADHD, anxiety, migraines and more, all accomplished without any drugs.
Many patients start neurofeedback therapy while taking their existing medications which can be reduced once positive changes have been seen from the Neurotherapy.
The process of working with our Certified Neurotherapists
We meet at our office and discuss your or your child’s case details. A full review of any previous diagnosis and medications list is noted with a specific treatment plan customized to your needs suggested. If required, our clinicians also provide details on financing options and information on time commitments required in order to maximize treatment success and lasting results.
In the first treatment session we test the brainwave patterns using a sophisticated FDA approved EEG equipment and establish a baseline. Imbalances are recorded and a specific course of at home treatment is established. The patient receives equipment to proceed with their treatment from the comfort of their own home which saves both time and costs from a more traditional strictly in-clinic approach.
Patients conduct in home training with the equipment provided by Neurotherapy Institute approximately 4-5 times per week for best results. It takes approximately 40 minutes to conduct the ADHD treatment training for best results. We monitor progress on a weekly basis to make sure the treatment plan is adhered to and to answer any questions or concerns.
This in-clinic session will retest the new brainwave patterns to confirm treatment effectiveness. Most clients will already see the results first hand in behavior changes prior to the retest.
If any further treatments are required an extension can usually be arranged free of any additional costs. We are committed to making sure your treatment is a complete success!
There are a number of professionals offering Neurofeedback and Biofeedback therapies wordwide. However only a few of them exclusively use FDA approved therapeutic equipment and are certified to the highest professional training standard to provide the type of care to you the patient that is exceptionally effective.
The Neurotherapy Institute was founded with a mandate to ensure the type of quality assurance one can expect from other professional organizations. It provides continuing training and adherence to the highest ethical and professional standards while actively engaging in pursuit of the latest advanced theraputics technology. For results you and your family can depend on.
Neurofeedback therapy— also known as neurotherapy or biofeedback— is the process of retraining the brain to produce slower brain waves in people suffering from a large variety of conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, migraines etc. Brain waves determine behavior and mood, and through neurofeedback, patients learn to “quiet” their minds on demand by slowing down their brain waves. This is achieved by reinforcing positive changes in brain wave activity thus creating more permanent connections in the brain.
Neurofeedback has a long history, some say going back as far as 100 years, beginning as an area of study for many neurologists, physiologists, psychiatrists, and scientists. Electroencephalography (EEG), and Quantitative EEG (QEEG) was not truly popularized until the 1960’s. In this 1935 picture, a physician attaches components of an early electroencephotograph machine to a woman’s head.
A QEEG brain map allows biofeedback practitioners to see the areas of a client’s brain where there is too much or too little activity, and areas where the brain is not communicating with other areas of the brain as best it could, resulting in undesired behaviours or feelings. These areas become the target of the biofeedback training. A post-training QEEG brain map can show the changes to the patterns of activity as a result of the neurotherapy.
